Accelerating Women Climate Entrepreneurs

In response to the climate change challenges, Aga Khan Foundation and Global Affairs Canada (GAC) launched the “Accelerating Women Climate Entrepreneurs” project with Ongoza as an implementing partner in Kenya in May. The businesses targeted provide climate change-related products or services and operate in Agriculture, Tourism, Healthcare, Clean Energy and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) sectors

 

The Business Acceleration Program for Women in Climate includes cohort-based business capacity-building workshops and in-depth one-on-one business consulting with Ongoza Growth Partners.. The program objectives include, 

  1.     Identifying specific barriers and levers affecting women entrepreneurs in climate-focused businesses.
  2.     Accelerating and scaling 10 female entrepreneurs directly benefiting within the one-year project timeframe in Kenya.
  3.     Supporting at least 53 community/family members of a small portion of the total female entrepreneurs through the project that are supported as dependents or employees. 

 

At the end of the program, 2 top-performing graduates will be selected by the other entrepreneurs. These graduates will be awarded up to $5,000
